BigSteelBox Kelowna was started in 2003 by Jason Siebenga mirroring the company his father started in Salmon Arm in 1999. When BigSteelBox opened its doors in Kelowna it was the only container sales, rental, and storage business in the area. The company grew far more rapidly than Jason had imagined and, before long, BigSteelBox was leading the mobile storage industry in the Okanagan.
In the early days BigSteelBox rented and sold the majority of its secure mobile storage containers to the construction industry, but today most customers are residential renters and movers looking for a convenient self-storage solution. The BigSteelBox Kelowna store on Dilworth Drive is nearly at capacity with just under 200 mini storage units loaded primarily with customer’s household items and personal belongings.
BigSteelBox is actively growing its customer base by providing secure onsite rentals for construction companies, extra storage for businesses looking for inexpensive space (stores, to warehouses, to manufacturing companies), and door-to-door mobile storage for residential use (moving, storage, renovations, etc.)
Before BigSteelBox opened its doors, there was no such thing as mobile storage in Kelowna. Now the convenience of mobile storage is gaining popularity amongst a wide audience. Because the great benefits of the service (convenience, no need for a truck, affordability), positive word of mouth has helped the company expand quickly. It also never hurts to have a memorable name.
